All children love cycling!
The sense of freedom and adventure felt when riding along is such an important part of growing up. For children with disabilities, this is too often an experience that is missed. Children with different abilities enjoy cycling just as any other children do. Cycling offers a magical combination of independence, individual challenge and social contact, the exhilaration of speed and movement and plain fun.
Therapists advise that cycling exercises will enhance muscular development / motor skills. Fresh air is not only therapeutic, the enjoyment of cycling outdoors has a good feel factor. Cycling does rejuvenate and enhances our mood. Like any other forms of exercise, cycling releases endorphin which has positive effects on our mood.
Cycling has the power to connect community and integrate those with different abilities into society, inclusive means “to include or encompass everything and everyone”. As far as inclusive cycling is concerned, total inclusion is an ambition, a goal to enable everyone to participate in cycling together.
This is our Bike Mechanic and Repair Workshop. This is to create/facilitate development educational programs that use hands-on bicycle maintenance and repairs, re-cycling, reuse and community service activities to develop thriving inclusive attitudes, behaviours, and skills in the participants with different abilities, youths and senior citizen.
